KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian concert lovers, rejoice! The dry spell that has been hitting our international concert circuit is set to end with the arrival of rock band INXS soon.
Now fronted by the young J.D. Fortune, INXS has promised Malaysians a rocking good time at their show at Stadium Negara on Aug 18. At the two-hour concert, the 29-year-old rock band will showcase their old hits as well as current chart favourites, which include the infectious Pretty Vegas, taken from their comeback album, Switch. INXS went under the radar at the height of their fame following the tragic death of their charismatic lead vocalist Michael Hutchence in 1997. Though the band were still actively performing at selected gigs with guest vocalists like Terence Trent D’Arby and Jon Stephens, founding members Kirk Pengilly (guitar and saxophone), Andrew Farriss (keyboard and guitar), Tim Farriss (guitar), Jon Farriss (drums) and Gary Beers (bass) shied away from the recording studio until they discovered J.D. through their reality programme, the Rockstar:INXS last year. INXS Switch On World Tour Live In Malaysia is organised by Galaxy Productions and presented by Celcom. Ticket prices range from RM60 to RM150 (for the rock zone).
